I’m a little behind posting this update to my blog but better late than never, right? I took the first clip on Levi’s second week of the Defying MD protocol from Youngevity. The second clip was taken on week 4. You can see a noticeable difference in his ability to stand on one leg. Levi has also been getting off of the couch, now, without assistance. Our couch is soft leather and very low to the ground and he hadn’t been able to get up by himself from the couch for months. My next video will include that footage and hopefully some more improvements as well. We are still very hopeful and seeing a lot of good things happening since we decided to adapt this lifestyle change. Food and supplements are important ya’ll! 🙂
Here we are! Week 3 and things are still going really good. This week I have some pictures, mainly for future comparison purposes, of Levi’s posture and the way his heels look when standing. He has been a ‘toe walker’ for a couple of years now and the difference is pretty noticeable. He had gotten to where his heels would be about 2-3 inches off the ground when standing and his balance was very poor. If you’ll notice in the pictures, he is obviously experiencing some form of release from his contractures.
Here is a view of his back —–>

WEEK 2 WEEK 3
Overall, Levi is still doing good. Things seem to be moving in a hopeful direction and we are looking forward to see what else happens for him. The video I posted last week has started circulating. We have 103 views already so be and sure and share with anyone who is affected by Muscular Dystrophy.
Here we are! Two weeks in and feeling good about our decision to start Levi on Youngevity. If you have followed my blog for a while you know that Levi has been using the Vecttor since June of 2012. I feel like it made a difference and has kept him mobile for the last two years. Even with the Vecttor, though, we were still seeing a decline and the normal progression of the monster that is Duchenne. So, my research gears starting turning in my brain and I decided to try something that had been nagging at me a while. Todd Harrison from Defying MD has made some amazing improvements and actually has reversed symptoms of Becker’s MD. Something kept telling me to just try it. I went with my gut on the Vecttor and I know it my heart it did Levi a lot of good and still is. So the decision was made and we jumped in. We have all been following the Good Food/Bad Food list from Youngevity and taking the Beyond Tangy Tangerine 2.0. Levi takes the BTT 2.0 plus the Ultimate Selenium, EFA Plus, FucoidZ, and Osteo-FX. Gluten Free is not as hard as you would think and the kids have been amazing at trying new things.
Now, onto the video! Let me give you a little background on what you are about to see. About two months ago, Levi lost the ability to get out of a seated position by himself. He would ask for help every time he needed to get up. On March 7th, just one week into our Youngevity trial, Levi surprised my daughter and I when he got up out of his chair at the dining table almost HANDS FREE! Even when he still had the ability to get up unassisted he would use his hands to climb up his legs, then put his hand on the table to assist him the rest of the way. To go from needing full assistance (just two weeks ago) to what he can do now is a huge sign that we are doing something right. I am so pleased to share this video with the DMD community. I hope that it settles some of the debate over whether this is a worthwhile treatment or not.
I have to say that I didn’t think I would be reporting any improvements just two weeks into our trial of the Defying MD Protocol but we are seeing some amazing things! I’ll be releasing Levi’s first video documentation in the next few days showing him doing something that he had lost the ability to do. If you don’t know much about Duchenne, abilities are rarely gained back after they have been lost. With the help of Youngevity and following a special diet, it seems that Levi is improving before our very eyes. I don’t know how much improvement we can expect in the next 90 days but if this is happening in just two weeks I cannot wait to see what abilities he will gain back. I don’t want to put the cart in front of the horse or get my hopes up but something very special is happening to my son. I can feel it in my soul and I can see the look of hope and satisfaction on his face. He feels different and he is trying more things because he can feel the change that is taking place within his body.
I can’t wait to show you what is happening in my son’s life. I will post the video in a few days!
So the whole family has been on the 90 Day Youngevity Challenge for one week now. We’ve been following the diet guidelines and taking all of stuff daily. Everyone has noticed a boost in energy. My daughter’s ‘allergy shiners’ are gone from her eyes. My husband (who has some sort of auto immune disease which is still undiagnosed) has felt more energy and it helped him bounce back faster from a bad flare up. Levi has been more energetic and more physical. He’s really been playing guns in the house the last couple of days. He will run back and forth for a couple hours before he decides to take a break. I’ve noticed his balance is better. He is also getting up from chairs and the couch without requesting our help which is something he hasn’t been able to do in a couple of months. His heels are also closer to the ground. He had really been toe walking bad over the last couple of months and it looks like his contractures in his ankles are starting to ease up a bit. I know it’s only been a week and I wasn’t expecting to see any results this fast but I feel really good about seeing some results already. I just wanted to share the good news. I am happy, so far, with the Youngevity products. Myself, my husband and my daughter are taking just the Tangy Tangerine powder supplement but Levi is taking the powder as well as, EFA Plus, Ultimate Selenium, FucoidZ, and Beyond Osteo-FX (Defying MD Protocol). Also we haven’t run his Vecttor in 4 days and he still showed all these improvements. I stopped the Vecttor for now to run a good trial on just using the vitamins. Looks like it isn’t affecting him too much since he’s actually gained some abilities back this week. Looks promising for now! I’ll update more next week.
Here is an example of one of the meals we had for dinner this past week (Following the Good Food/Bad Food List):
The kids loved this one. (yes, even with the asparagus and carrots!) I cooked the catfish in the skillet with a little bit of butter, and also brushed a little butter on the asparagus and carrots, added salt and pepper then popped them in the oven for about 10 minutes until they were crispy.
We didn’t have any red meat this week. I stuck to chicken and fish. I’m gonna try to limit our red meat intake to about 3 or 4 times a month. The kids are doing great trying all the new fruits and veggies. I did have them a little in line since we’ve been eating healthier for about a year now but we are being more strict with food now and sometimes it takes a little convincing but they really are good to try everything and they usually end up liking it. I’ll start posting more of my recipes so you can see if your family would enjoy these types of meals.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to see what the next few days bring!
